About Us
Caribbean Industrial and Agricultural Chemical Services Limited was originally established at the home of its founder Mr. Ewart Ali at 61-63 Battoo Boulevard Battoo Lands, Marabella, Trinidad.
Mr. Ewart Ali initially began working as a timekeeper at Grace Limited which is situated in the Point Lisas Industrial Estate in Trinidad. Grace Limited has since been transferred by strategic joint venture partnerships and is now owned and operated under the name of Yara Trinidad Limited (Formerly Hydro Agri Trinidad Limited). Mr. Ali had spent his entire working career at this company, and ended his career as a Production Manager when he retired.
Having spent his entire life in the industry, Mr. Ali saw opportunities that he could capitalize on and established a successful business of his own after retiring. The catalyst change out and inert entry services was one under-utilized service which was untapped by any entrepreneur in Trinidad. This particular service was supplied to all of the Methanol and Ammonia industries by contracting the service from foreign companies from the United States of America. Mr. Ali saw an opportunity to supply this service locally to a market which was in demand by the petrochemical
industry in Trinidad.
EWEES (EWEES G.E.) was established in 1989. Mr. Ali’s intention at the start was to establish a family business that would be continued by his children. EWEES Limited was operated under the management of Mr. Ali, his wife and second eldest son. This business began supplying only manpower services for the catalyst removal and re-entry. However, EWEES rented the equipment for the removal of the catalyst from a foreign based company named Industrial Agricultural and Chemical (IAC) in North Carolina, USA.
EWEES was later changed to Confined Space Workers & Catalyst Handlers Limited (CONSWOSH Ltd.). This change occurred in 1995 under an equal partnership with IAC for the acquisition of equipment for the business. In 1997 the company was handed over to CIACS Ltd. which is presently managed and owned by Mr. Ali’s youngest son Mr. Jody Ali. In 2011, full ownership was acquired by Mr. Ali.
Apart from the name and ownership changes, the company has also obtained new, efficient equipment, hired additional full-time employees, established certified quality plans, safety training programs and orientations as well as implemented more efficient and effective management procedures and styles.
